Bit of a change of pace from say Chalion, but I enjoyed it anyway. Far more romance-focused than I expected, but a lovely sweet romance. The magic is interesting and visceral, and equal narrative weight was given to terrifying undead creatures and to the causeway devastation of a confined life. I liked it. I am terribly afraid none of this will end well.
