I picked up this book a few months ago at a town wide rummage sale for an insanely low price. If you thought Mitch McDeere was in trouble in "The Firm," waituntil you meet Kyle McAvoy, "The Associate" Kyle McAvoy grew up in his father's small-town law office in York, Pennsylvania. He excelled in...

(I just came to know that there is an actual law firm in New York City that is a spitting image of the one in Grisham's book. A friend's daughter interned there and the 12 hour days, working weekends, meals and transport charged to clients, are real. The junior staff average about 2 years and burn...

Extremely disappointed.

Even though the "thriller" bit started right off the bat, the actual unfolding of the story (background) felt slow to me.The main gist of the story is that Kyle McEvoy was about to graduate (law) and was, basically, on top of his class. Due to some "questionable" past event, Kyle was being blackmai...

I don't know if I've ever read a John Grisham novel before, and this was pretty much what I expected. Entertaining, fairly fast-moving, shallow plot and characters. I didn't mind read it, I wouldn't avoid John Grisham novels in the future, but I won't seek them out either.(Some sloppy editing in a c...

Grisham is in a rut, that or he isn't spending enough time on his novels because this one, which starts off well, has a plot very similar to the Firm, ends really badly.Kyle McAvoy and Mitch McDeere are almost interchangeable except for economic background, both brilliant law students, both hired by...

I haven't read Grisham in a while. Was enjoyable, not extremely suspenseful, and left you with questions in the end. Would recommend if you have read Grisham before, but definitely not a first read of Grisham. You may not "fall in love" with him. The narrator was excellent. Enjoyed all his voices.

Typical Grisham. Love his writing. Great story and then you get to the end. Blah!

The ending of this book was terrible. It's like Grisham couldn't think of how to end it so he just "ended it." I don't recommend this to anyone even if the reader is crazy about Grisham.
