In 2006 he released his independently produced CD, 'The Stars Can See', featuring songs written and recorded in London where Mitchell lived for six years. The Stars Can See received radio play in Australia, England and Holland and garnered great reviews including getting 8/10 from AMERICANA UK: "His songwriting skills put him in a league above the litany of anonymous singer-songwriters."Before turning to writing novels Mitchell had a successful career as an actor (with a lead role in Ozzie soap, Neighbours, guest starring on Blue Heelers, touring in fringe and mainstream theatre) and while working as an actor he also wrote, produced and starred in a couple of plays in his hometown of Melbourne.His first novel, The Last Great Day (2011) was launched at Melbourne Writer's Festival and described as "A compelling tale of faith and family" (INPRESS) and "A fascinating story."
