Bernard Rimé holds a doctoral degree in psychology and is emeritus and invited professor at the University of Louvain at Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium. He conducts research in social psychology and focuses on the study of emotions and social behavior. He investigates how emotional experiences and emotional events impact upon interpersonal relations and collective processes. He is author of many contributions in academic journals and books. He authored "Le partage social des émotions" (The social sharing of emotions) (2009, Presses Universitaires de France) and he coedited "Les Emotions: Textes de base" (Emotions: Basic readings) (1989, Delachaux) with Klaus Scherer, "Fundamentals of Nonverbal Behavior" (1991, Cambridge University Press) with Robert Feldman, "Collective memory of political events" (1997, Erlbaum), with James Pennebaker and Dario Paez, and "Changing Emotions" (2013, Taylor & Francis) with Dirk Hermans and Batja Mesquita. Bernard Rimé has held visiting appointments at the universities ofAmsterdam (The Netherlands), Bari, (Italy), Bologna (Italy), Geneva (Switerland), Münster (Germany), San Sebastian (Spain) , Quito (Equator), at the University of Massachussetts (Amherst, MA), at the Southern Methodist University (Dallas, TX), and at the Maison des Sciences de l'Homme (Paris, France). A past president of the International Society for Research on Emotion (ISRE) and of the Belgian Psychological Society, he was awarded a Honoris Causa Degree by the University of Bari (Italy).
