An important point was left out of this book: The history of philosophy is also a history of drunks.Bertrand Russell has attempted to give a brief overview of the History of Western Philosophy. In this 900 page tome he touches on the major figures, major fields of thought, and the socio-political ba...

This book was not what I was expecting. I guess I was thinking that I was in for a grand overview on just what happiness is and the nature of the human existence in chasing it. And while parts were like that, many others were just Russell's opinions on how to "solve" the happiness problem. There w...

In high school I was taught some basics, but the subject didn’t leave many traces in my memory except that the lessons, the text-book and even the teacher were mind-numbingly borin...

This is the very first book I read for Bertrand Russell. I admit: it's huge!Though I totally disagree with Russell's view of God, but I really loved this book. There are a lot of inspiring lines I loved. This man is truly wise. The part of the book I liked the most was the 'Good Life' part! It was r...

Amazing introduction to the issues and benefits of philosophical study. This should be the first book read in any introduction to philosophy course. It may even be beneficial for high school students to prepare them for using logic and reason in their later lives.

Let's just say lately I've been picking up books that are easy enough to read, but still carry a bit of substance. This would translate into easy philosophy, and though I know it's judged for it's lack of seriousness, I think some authors are still able to pull through. Russel Brandt was not a philo...
