Betsy Franco Feeney is an illustrator, graphic designer and photographer working in commercial art for over twenty-five years. Her illustration work has been described as "meticulously detailed with rare humor and imagination" (Kirkus Reviews). With her Yorkie puppy by her side (or on her lap), Betsy enjoys working in her home studio just outside of New York City.   Attending Fashion Institute of Technology, Betsy received the highest illustration award for her graduating class. She continued her studies at the School of Visual Arts. Clients include: Charles Scribners Sons, IBM, Harcourt Brace, McGraw Hill, Berkley Publishing Group, General Foods,  Ballantine Books (a division of Random House), Orange and Rockland Utilities, Women's Day Magazine,  Robin & Adler Books,  Joshua Morris Publishing,  Longmeadow Press,  Hudson Valley Children's Museum,  Historical Society of Rockland, and ReMAx Realtors. Betsy works in a variety of mediums to meet the needs of each particular job. She feels strongly that, even though much of her work today is enhanced with the computer, having a traditional art background makes her work so successful and compelling. She has used watercolor, oil, acrylic, and pen and ink. Also a skilled calligrapher, Betsy specializes in Old English and Cursive styles. Her 15 years experience on a Macintosh computer adds skills in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Quark. More recently, she has become an accomplished photographer finding that her eye for design and composition serves her very well behind the camera, a Canon 5D Mark II . Betsy has illustrated eleven children's books receiving many accolades including a "Best Books" Award from the American Association for the Advancement of Science for AMOEBA HOP. She recently finished HOLE IN THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA which, like AMOEBA HOP, is based on a song by Christine Lavin. Betsy translates her love of children's book art to the theater stage. She has been scenic designer for productions of Hairspray, Seussical, Beauty and the Beast, Oliver, The Little Mermaid, Cats, The Wiz, High School Musical (1 & 2), Peter Pan, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory among others. Betsy's children's book art is also brought vividly to life in front of the appreciative eyes of students in numerous elementary schools. Visiting schools is one of  the most rewarding parts of her career.       To contact Betsy, email her at betsfeeney@gmail.com or call her at:Studio 845-359-4084
