Hi, my name is Betti Gefecht. I am a native German who lives in Germany, and I write.Ok, I do a lot more than that. Like... I'm a musician, artist, graphic designer, and a complete dork. But let's explore those things later. For now, this is a place for words. So let's talk about words. And let's start with YOUR words.Working for several publishers in Germany, U.S.A., UK and Australia, I frequently have the pleasure of helping some of my favorite book authors with their German editions in my favorite genres, romance and erotica, which I enjoy like nobody’s business! I also have a special soft spot for self-publishing writers. In the beginning, these publishers and writers trusted me based on my own romance writing in English (mostly fan fiction, but I've also written a short story you can find on Amazon), knowing I would not simply know how to say things correctly in German but would stay true to their own, distinctive voice and the vibe of the story, to let it be THEIR story but make it all sound natural. As a reader fluent in both languages, I recognize the English idiom that's been translated word for word and just doesn't mean the same in German, if it still makes any sense at all.... such hiccups can totally ruin a book for me. As a reader, you don't want to read a mere translation anyway. You want to read a story that gives you "all the feels." And as a writer, you don't want the translation to get between your story and "all the feels." If you're a writer or a book publisher thinking about having your works translated for readers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, I'd love to help you with that.I translate English to German. I can also help with editing and/or proof reading of existing translations if you need a second opinion by a native German.I am an artist in my heart, first and foremost, so I know my way around a romance novel. But I also know my stuff because a huge chunk of my professional life of 30 years has been centered around the English language, including: - writing prose, poetry and song lyrics- translating and editing all of the above from German to English, and vice versa- writing, proof reading and editing editorials during my 20 years as an art director and vice chief editor for Europe’s largest magazine publishing house, Bauer Media Group- handling titles, blurbs and texts in both languages while designing book covers and adsand last but not least translating fiction, fiction, and fictionSo hire me! I'd love to work for you.Any questions or concerns? Don't hesitate to email me; I'm looking forward to it.All the feels, Bettibetti@bettigefecht.com
