Bill Aron’s 30+year career as a photographer and a chronicler of Jewish communities around the world is both well known and widely respected. His photographs have been exhibited in major museums and galleries throughout the United States and Israel, and has also appeared in a wide variety of publications They are also found in numerous public and private collections, including the Museum of Modern Art, the International Center for Photography, the Jewish Museum, the Chicago Art Institute, the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, the Mississippi Museum of Art, the Museum of American Jewish History, the Israel Museum in Jerusalem, and the Museum of the Diaspora in Tel-Aviv. Aron first gained international recognition for his first book, From The Corners Of The Earth, which chronicles the Jewish communities of the former Soviet Union, Cuba, Jerusalem, New York and Los Angeles, and was published, with an introduction by Chaim Potok, by The Jewish Publication Society. Algonquin Books published a second volume of his work, Shalom Y’all: Images of Jewish Life in the American South, with an introduction by Alfred Uhry. His most recent book, "New Beginnings: The Triumphs of 120 Cancer Survivors," focuses on survivors who have not let their diagnosis prevent them from living their lives to the fullest; in many cases, the diagnosis has served as an impetus to better their lives. Jane Brody wrote the introduction, with prefaces by Peter Yarrow (of Peter, Paul & Mary), former U.S. Congressman Henry Waxman, and Rabbi David Wolpe. Skyhorse Publishing is the publisher. The text of "New Beginnings" is also respected sociological document (Ph.D. University of Chicago). During the past several years, Aron has also produced large-scale multi-image panoramas of Israel, by stitching together numerous images into one photograph. That work has been exhibited at the Herzliya Art Center in December of 2011, at the Pucker Gallery in Boston in May, 2012, and at the Wiell Art Gallery of the 92nd St. Y in New York City in the Fall of 2012. Aron lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two sons, where he is most likely the only photographer a Ph.D. in sociology. A selection of his work can be seen on his web site, www.billaron.com. The Pucker Gallery in Boston represents him.
