Notes from a Small Island by Bill Bryson chronicles the walking expedition that the author took across Great Britain right before he moved back to the United States. I loved how his enjoyment of the countryside (particularly Yorkshire) came through in his beautiful descriptions. If he had only stuck...

This could not catch my interest. It seemed kind of amusing, but my mind kept wandering. I’m not sure if this is just not a good book for the audio format or if I’m just not in the mood. Or maybe because it’s a sequel and I haven’t read the first book. I gave it my minimum 20 minutes of audio time b...

I will admit that it took me more chapters to find that groove than my usual and I almost DNF...

In the Deep Blue Sea is simply written, features an interesting array of characters, and is filled with a mystery which will appeal to middle-grade sleuths. Everything might seem a bit over-the-top to adult readers, but given that this seems to be aimed at the younger end of the middle-grade scale, ...

Well worth reading. A little tiresome humor sprinkled in, but for the most part an informative and interesting piece of reporting. Hard not to somewhat like Bryson and company. But a steady diet would certainly be too much.
