Asking children's writer Bill Kirk why he writes his stories in rhyme, he will tell you rhyme gives a story its feel, like working with clay at a wheel. Do you like the sound of iambic beat and the rich texture of rhymes that roll off your tongue? Take one of Bill Kirk's stories home with you. Travel with your children on a rhythmic journey of action and everyday adventure, seen through the eyes of fireflies, spiders and Little League baseball players. Bill Kirk was born in Giessen, Germany, in 1947 where his parents were stationed with the U.S. Army-Air Corps after World War II. He followed the nomadic lifestyle as a military brat until he attended college and again an an Intelligence Officer for 20 more years. After completing a second career with the State of California and decades of bureaucratic writing, Kirk decided to try his hand at children's rhyme. Most days, you will find him at his computer in his Sacramento, California home, where he lives with his wife, Rita, a Clinical Psychologist. Married for 46 years, Kirk and his wife have two children and four grandchildren who are the inspiration for many of Kirk's stories. His rhymes have been published in Boys' Quest, Fun For Kids, Wee Ones, GAPKids e-zine, North Dakota Horizons, Absolute Write and the Baseball Almanac among other publications.
