Read this in high school. It involves sadistic homophobia and disability-as-(divine) punishment. Total trash, and not the good kind.

I loved every moment of this book and the movie too, but we're focusing on the book. This story is so moving and so cute that I just wanted to hug Novalee and tell her to be my friend. I really didn't care for the bits about her ex-boyfriend Willie Jack at all he was an idiot and I couldn't stand hi...

I saw the movie version of this book when it first came out and it has become one of my favorite movies, so this book has been one I have wanted to read for a while. I just finally got around to reading it now and am glad that I did. This book was as good, if not better, than the movie. This heartwa...

I love Billie Letts, I love this book and I love all the crazy characters in it. I've actually read this twice. I read it once when it came out and then a couple years later before I watched the movie. It's just a great heartwarming story and I would definitely recommend it!

This book was a nauseating experience of southern caricatures. The characters were adorned each with a set of quaint, innocuous attributes, as if the author had a "character wheel" she spun to gather a set of random traits for each. It was an attempt at Bean Trees, but lacking in any truth or integr...

Not as good as I was expecting, but it was an easy read and quite enjoyable. I felt it was a bit disjointed - it jumped around a lot and seemed to leave out whole chunks of storyline just to get to the next event. At one point, I almost felt like I was reading a collection of short stories about t...
