For more reviews, check out my blog: Craft-CycleWhile I have not seen the Netflix adaptation of this yet, I think the big problem I had with this book was that going into it I had the vague notion that POSSIBLE SPOILER (you don't really get any answers at the end and don't find out what the creature...

Josh Malerman knows where our fear lives. It's not in the gushing splatter of arterial blood or in staring into the eyes of a predator ready to pounce or in fighting for your life with something monstrous. These spike our adrenalin, call on us to fight or flee and then they are gone. Real fear,...

Definitely worth the 3 bucks I paid for it. We never get a description of the things, but there are a couple scenes that give some sideways hints of what they might appear as. I think not knowing what and where they are lends to the tension. The ending is open ended, but wraps up the story.

I saw the film before reading the book because I figured my wait at the library would last an eternity. It didn’t because this is how my life works and now I’ve gone and spoiled everything for myself!Actually, the film is quite a bit different from the movie. The bones are the same but characters, d...

I'm not sure if this is a spoiler but [spoiler]I particularty liked the idea that the effect on the people by whateve...

"You can smell it, too. Death. Dying. Decay. The sky is falling, the sky is dying, the sky is dead." Let me start this by saying I would absolutely die in the world of Bird Box. Walking around the world, afraid to open your eyes because monsters are about to jump at you? Nope. So much nope. Ther...

Every fall I read all the scary books that have piled up over the year(s), many of which are recommendations from friends and co-workers. And every fall I'm disappointed because none of them are actually scary. Not this year. This book actually scared the hell out of me. In fact, it had been so long...

Don’t look outside or let any light in, you never know who is out there and what they are capable of doing. Live in darkness and shield your eyes, don’t look outside your tomb which was once the house that you enjoyed. It’s paranoia at its finest and it should be because all it takes is one glance a...

Malorie stands in the kitchen, thinking. - first sentence This book is soooo creepy and claustrophobic. I loved every minute of it. I can't imagine what it would be like to have to walk around outside blindfolded, let alone rowing down a river. The feeling of something unknown standing right next...
