Overall entertaining, but I found the double POV didn't bring much, and the characters didn't strike me as being particularly of interest. However, the mythology of the world depicted in this book is interesting.

This reader's personal opinion, ©2013, all rights reserved.* This one caught me up immediately. Vivid writing. Sympathetic characters. Fast-paced. Clever and original worldbuilding. I was not lost and became quickly enthralled with the series, but I had to read Shadow City (#3) before I read anything el...

Oh YES. 4.5 stars, easy. So much wonderful gore and bloodshed and fighting and darkness and it's all awesome shades of grey. And no love triangles. Some acknowledged lust at first sight, but that I can deal with. And no romance focus - instead it's all awesome world-building (without massive infodump...

I really liked Max but also was very interested in the side characters especially the angels...while the healing abilities seemed a bit unbelievable.....I kinda figured it was like the Shadowblades were vampire like but without the need for blood so I did not have a hard time with that.I am also int...
