Abigail Wendover, on the shelf at 28, is kept busy when her niece falls head over heels in love with a handsome fortune hunter and Abbie is forced into a confrontation with his scandalous uncle. Miles Calvery is the black sheep of his family- enormously rich from a long sojourn in India, disconcerti...

I've read this book several times; it's one of my favorite Heyer titles. Very funny, with plenty of romance. The audio version, narrated by Barbara Leigh-Hunt, was good, but I had a few problems with it. First of all, Ms. Leigh-Hunt is over seventy years old, and her voice sounds, well, . . . old. ...

Fanny becomes attached to a plausable fortune-hunter and it's only with the help of a notorious rake and black sheep Miles Calverleigh that she can help. However she's also attracted to...

Miles is my favorite Heyer hero, I'm sure of it. I'm also sure I've said that about the last three Heyers I've read, in the very least.

Utterly charming. Well, it's a little like Austen-for-Beginners, because Heyer takes the time to explain what everyone's circumstances are and what it means. and then it isn't at all like that because Heyer makes use of the most impenetrable slang, which cracked me up. If you enjoy a sandwich made o...

This is Georgette Heyer at her best... delightful, witty, fast-paced, and laugh-out-loud! In fact, it's almost a satirical look at Regency England and the ton... a tongue-in-cheek slam at all Society's "rules" and ideas about propriety, especially for the not-so-young set (over 21).Abigail Wendover ...

I enjoyed this book very much. Like most Heyer's books, it has an amazing plot and beautifully written characters who are incredibly entertaining.. I never suspected the ending.

Not my favorite hero - being indifferent to your family is a virtue? Heyer is always readable though and its was enjoyable enough.

One of Heyer's less-likable sets of characters.
