Blair Bancroft recalls receiving odd looks from adults as she walked home from school at age six, her lips moving as she told herself stories. And there was never a night she didn't entertain herself with her own bedtime stories. But it was only after a variety of other careers that she turned to serious writing. Blair has been a music teacher, professional singer, non-fiction editor, costume designer, and real estate agent. She has traveled from Bratsk, Siberia, to Machu Picchu, Peru, and made numerous visits to Britain and Ireland. Recent trips took her along an English canal at 3mph, through Portugal and Spain, and, via the Chunnel, from France to Switzerland to Venice. She is now attempting to incorporate all these varied experiences into her writing. Blair's first book, TARLETON'S WIFE, won RWA's Golden Heart for Long Historical and the Best Romance award from the Florida Writers' Association. Her contemporary suspense novel, SHADOWED PARADISE, and her Medieval Young Adult, ROSES IN THE MIST, were finalists for an EPPIE, the "Oscar" of the e-book industry. Blair's Signet Regency, THE INDIFFERENT EARL was chosen as Best Regency by Romantic Times magazine and was a finalist for RWA's RITA award. ROSES IN THE MIST is now available on Kindle as THE CAPTIVE HEIRESS. And THE INDIFFERENT EARL has been reincarnated as THE COURTESAN'S LETTERS. Blair's longest book--and personal favorite--is the Regency Historical Romance, THE SOMETIME BRIDE. If your interest is contemporary mystery/suspense, I have begun uploading a series of books set in the very real, but fictionally named, Gulf Coast town of Golden Beach, Florida. Currently available are SHADOWED PARADISE, PARADISE BURNING, and ORANGE BLOSSOMS & MAYHEM. (DEATH BY MARRIAGE should be online by Summer 2012.) And if you love Cape Cod, Massachusetts, or have a yen for seafront communities in general, please check out LOVE AT YOUR OWN RISK, a classic short romance. O'ROURKE'S HEIRESS, a Regency Historical featuring several characters from TARLETON'S WIFE and THE SOMETIME BRIDE, is now available. It's an unusual story about two people who try to do what's right and end up utterly miserable with other people. And their second try for Happily Ever After is almost a "miss" as well.March & April 2012. I've added two Thrillers, which feature action, mystery, suspense, and romance. ORANGE BLOSSOMS & MAYHEM has a true "bombshell" heroine, and LIMBO MAN will, I hope, have "male," as well as "female" appeal. May 2012. I DO love tackling new genres. I've now added my first Steampunk, AIRBORNE - THE HANOVER RESTORATION. Great fun to write, but challenging. More revisions than usual. Hopefully, I finally got the hang of it.June 2012. Please welcome DEATH BY MARRIAGE, a not-quite-cozy mystery set in my favorite Florida town of Golden Beach. The intrepid amateur sleuth is, of all things, a costume designer! September 2012. FLORIDA KNIGHT has just joined by other books on Amazon. It's a "modern medieval" with a unique Florida background supplied by my many years in the medieval re-enactment group, The Society for Creative Anachronism.November 2012. My Christmas novella, THE LAST SURPRISE, is now available. CHRISTMAS SURPRISES, the paperback anthology which includes TLS, should be ready soon. I'm thrilled to announce the publication of my first full-length, traditional Regency since STEEPLECHASE. Hopefully, you will find LADY OF THE LOCK warm-hearted and humorous in spite of a whole series of "black moments."April 2013. At long last Jack Harding, who is a vital secondary character in TARLETON'S WIFE and also appears in O'ROURKE'S HEIRESS, gets a girl of his own. You will find Jack's story in ROGUE'S DESTINY, the latest Historical Romance in my Regency Warrior series.September 2013. I couldn't resist the challenge of attempting my very own "Gothic Revival." In the grand tradition of Victoria Holt, Mary Stewart, and Phyllis Whitney, I've written what I hope is a classic Gothic novel, set in the Regency era. (Please see my Author Notes under BRIDES OF FALCONFELL.) I hope you'll enjoy this strong-minded heroine who comes so close to getting herself killed. Take a peek at BRIDES OF FALCONFELL and tell me what you think.December 2013. Hopefully, none of my regular readers will be offended because I have decided to take a walk on the wild side - or perhaps I should say the darkside. I have just uploaded the first in a series of what I call, Regency Darkside, stories about young women to whom life has not been kind, women who have no friends or family willing to support them when their lives fall apart. The series is THE APHRODITE ACADEMY; the first book, BELLE, the story of a young lady who escapes abuse at home by taking shelter at an academy where some highly unusual subjects are taught. This one is not for the squeamish or for those who prefer the bedchamber door remain closed.March 2014. CECILIA has been added to the Aphrodite Academy series and is currently being offered as a "twofer" with BELLE.May 2014. THE ART OF EVIL, once a hardcover mystery and the last of my backlist, is now available on Kindle. It's a favorite of mine, I confess, as it is set at the John & Mable Ringling Museum in Sarasota, where I was a volunteer for many years. August 2014. Prior to going on a delightful 7-day cruise to the Bahamas, St. Thomas, and St. Maarten, I uploaded a second Regency Gothic to Amazon Kindle. THE MISTS OF MOORHEAD MANOR is set on the coast in northern Devon, England, and features a solution to murder in the family which may shock some readers. I'd love to know what you think, either via reviews on by e-mail to blairbancroft@aol.com.Thanks for stopping by! Blair
