For Harry Dresden, Chicago's only professional wizard, there have been worse assignments than going undercover on the set of an adult film. Dodging flaming monkey poo, for instance. Or going toe-to-leaf with a walking plant monster. Still, there is something more troubling than usual about his newes...
This review can also be found at Carole's Random Life in Books.I think that I might have enjoyed this book even more than I did the first time I read it. It has been several years since I worked my way through the Harry Dresden series the first time and I have been slowing re-reading the series on a...
There's a reason it took me three separate borrow periods at my library to finish this book. It's just not that good. I have loved most of the Harry Dresden books, and this one, nope. It just read as filler from beginning to end. Then the book ends on a weird note and at one point I wondered if my K...
Note: The previous book (Death Masks, Book 5) is where reading this series out of order starts to do you an injustice. This book does work as a stand alone to some extend, but you will get major spoilers for the previous books in the series and it also pulls in characters we have met before. So I re...
Listening to Blood Rites, the sixth Dresden Files story, I found myself in a comfortable spot and enjoying Harry Dresden’s adventures. Jim Butcher knows what works, making each story engaging and unique, but familiar and enjoyable. This time around, Harry agrees to help the sometimes friendly, yet a...
Excellent series. As this series continues, Dresden's character gets more and more interesting and complex, as well as the people and villains in his life. I think Dresden and Murphy will hook up in the future at some point, but only my opinion.
I've been enjoying this series thus far, but this installment really brought it! The porn star murder mystery had barrel-of-laughs written all over it, doubly so with Harry Dresden on the case. BLOOD RITES put a lot of the characters' roles into perspective; Murphy tries being a vigilante on for siz...
There are so many praiseworthy elements to Jim Butcher's Dresden Files series. Time to note a couple of them that I haven't mentioned before: 1) JB knows how to steal from the best. I think all writers steal - all artists, for that matter - and the best do so in such a way that the audience doesn't ...
To me this was the best book in the series so far. Harry Dresden have matured quite a bit from the first books where he frequently came across as a wimp. In this book he has almost become “Dirty Harry” Dresden. He can still be a bit thick at times but it is no longer a question of whether or not to ...
Finally done with Harry Dresden. While I quite enjoyed it at first, his character just made reading the series harder and harder. He is a self-righteous ass and his chauvinism becomes quite irritating.
