After listening to an interview with the author on Fresh Air on NPR I checked the book out of the library. I liked it a lot when I read it but in retrospect I'm not sure how good it was. Fairly predictable story but superb writing. To be perfectly fair I should reread it as I read it 12 years ago.
This was a quick and easy read, and for the first half of the book, I really quite liked it. I thought the language was very good, most of the characters interesting, and the story was engaging.
