Bonnie Bucuqeroux' first book was her ghostwritten biography of the late E.O. Marsh of Jackson, Michigan, that she discusses in the introduction to Speaking of Murder. Books two and three were on community policing, co-authored with the late Dr. Robert Trojanowicz. For nine years, Bucqueroux served as associate director of the National Center for Community Policing at Michigan State University's School of Criminal Justice. Speaking of Murder is her fourth book, one that she hopes will contribute to our understanding of violence in the culture and the role the media play in reporting it.Bucqueroux is also a web pioneer who is excited about the future of journalism online. She created her first website in 1996, a site about her late step-daughter that was featured on MSBC's The Site with Soledad O'Brien. She and colleague Darcy Greene co-chaired a local chapter of Webgrrls. In 1998, she produced the first online training course for police. In 2000, she became the first person to run for Congress to blog about her campaign. A National Magazine Award winner, Bucqueroux currently co-publishes Lansing Online News, for which she does a weekly radio show and webcast. She also produces Sustainable Farmer, an online magazine for people engaged in this new movement. She has posted more than 500 videos to YouTube, and those videos have attracted more than 1.5 million visitors worldwide.Speaking of Murder: Media Autopsies of Famous Crime Cases builds on her work as a coordinator of the MSU J-School's Victims and the Media Program. She continues to teach journalism at MSU.
