Bonnie Stanard, who grew up in rural South Carolina, graduated from the state university and married Douglas Stanard of LaSalle, Illinois. Her three sons became her career for a number of years. The family moved from Chicago to Brussels to Atlanta. Eloise Fink's writer workshop at New Trier opened her eyes to her love of writing (and rewriting). She has edited several regional publications, and her poetry has appeared in literary journals such as HARPUR PALATE, SLIPSTREAM, and THE GRIFFIN. When her husband retired from a Richmond company, the two of them moved to Columbia where they currently reside. She has published three antebellum novels and is at work on her fourth.
