This was so good, and in no way should the time I took reading it reflect anything. It was incredibly engaging and in many way less heavy than other MD I’ve read. It’s not her best, certainly, but it’s very easily still a five star book. Lydia and James start out with an antagonistic relationship bu...

I couldn't get into this historical romance. It had so many superfluous details that I started skimming but still the action was rather trivial and boring. I gave up around a third of the way in. Viscount Sanburne interrupts Lydia's lecture to show what he thinks is an important artifact.

The goodreads blurb made me think it was a more typical spinster and the rake type story but it was much deeper than that. Lydia and James are complex chara...

I am not sure what happened with me and this book. I just finished The Duke of Shadows by Duran and it was awesome. I was hoping for the same with this book. It just didn't happen. Lydia was a self righteous, annoying, wordy prig. I couldn't take her. Her unwavering faith in her father was jus...

I really enjoyed this book. Duran seems to write romance with adult complexity. I'd say this is four stars plus and I liked it better than Duke of Shadows. (Revised to 5.)
