Lexile Level: 1020L In this book, the popular children's author Roald Dahl describes his own childhood in a whimsical, descriptive style. Teachers could introduce this book as an example of autobiography. Students could enjoy learning about the author of so many popular and imaginative stories. Stud...
What a great biographic piece. Dahl is an excellent story teller, and puts that to use: he doesn't waste pages in the minutia, or get scared of leaving swathes of time undressed, but picks the bits he wants to tell about his early life, because they are important, interesting, colorful, defining. It...
A very entertaining collection of memories and stories. This is a fun read, full of interesting childhood memories. Complete with simple illustrations and photographs, this book gives a glimpse into the early life of a very creative writer.Even when recounting unpleasant events, Dahl truly has a way ...
"Boy" is about the biography of one of the best children's book author, Roald Dahl. From the cover to the last page, everything is charming. If the author was not him, the story would have been dark and dramatic. But Roald Dahl made everything humorous. Who else would turn a memory about terrible te...
Fantastic book for kids! So imaginative and creative. Easy read that children will find delightful!Roald Dahl is always brilliant! His stories and rhymes are fun and entertaining! Some of my all time favorites!! Such a great way to entertain children and get them interested in reading!

When I read I want to escape this world for another world.Mr. Dahl captures the essence of his autobiography perfectly with a quote on the back of my book. “An autobiography is a book a person writes abou...
I first read this in my English class in, I think, year 7 in 2001 and I thought it was fantastic. Some of the stories are so ridiculous that you find them hard to believe but it is certainly clear where Roald Dahl got his inspiration for some of the awful, amazing, hilarious and stupid characters he...
I read this book as part of my course when I was in 6th grade and I've never forgotten how anxiously we'd wait for English lesson just so we could move ahead (Being the nerd that I am, I finished it multiple times over). Like the cover says: some things are sad, some are happy - all are true (or som...
