Bradley S. Witzel, PhD, is an award winning professor and teacher. As a classroom teacher and before that as a paraeducator he worked in multiple education settings teaching mainly math and science to high achieving students with disabilities. In higher education, Dr. Witzel has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in general and inclusive education methods as well as a variety of other courses from transition to behavior support. He has written several dozen research and practitioner articles, books and book chapters on mathematics education and interventions through such publishers as Corwin Press and Pearson Education. Dr. Witzel works and has worked with with several districts throughout the U.S. to improve student math scores. Recently, Dr. Witzel served as a reviewer of the final report from the National Math Panel and as an author on the IES RtI Math Practice Guide. He is editor of the journal Focus on Inclusive Education through ACEI and serves on the governing board of the Regional Education Laboratory - Southeast, supporting educational research advancements. He also serves as a workgroup member on accessibility with Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium helping prepare educators for assessment of the Common Core State Standards. He received his BS in psychology and education at James Madison University and his MEd and PhD in exceptional student education from the University of Florida where he studied secondary mathematics for students with high-incidence disabilities and at-risk concerns. He currently serves as an associate professor and coordinator of three special education programs at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Most importantly, he is a father of two, husband of an educator, and son of two educators.
