Brandon D. Shuler is a sixth generation Texan born in Pasadena, Texas. His creative non-fiction appears in Outdoor Life, Saltwater Sportsman, E: The Environmental Magazine, and other fine outlets. His fiction and poetry appears in The Texas Review, Dark Sky Magazine, NAP Literary Magazine, Red River Review, and various literary journals. Brandon is currently a Literature, Social Justice, and the Environment PhD. candidate at Texas Tech University where he focuses on Southwestern literatures with an emphasis on Texas literature and border studies. He is currently editing NewBorder: An Anthology of Texas/Mexico Border Writing (Texas A&M Press, 2013). He is also editing the personal correspondence of Tom Lea and J.
