This was fantastic! There were so many parallels between the treatment of zombies and other minorities that it really made me sad for them. This was funny, yet touching and really made you think. Typically you're cheering for the living and hoping they don't get eaten, but in this you were hoping...

Initially I really enjoyed this. Setting aside the opening scene, I really felt for the main character, who lost his wife in a car accident, which killed them both, but he spontaneously reanimated. He found himself in a world that reviled him. He had a daughter whom he was no longer allowed to se...

I was really interested in this book. It sounded like a totally great new view on zombies. Our main character fell asleep behind the wheel and he and his wife get killed... well actually she gets killed, and he comes back from the dead in the mortuary. Welcome back to the world... the world isn't hap...

I’m not generally one for humor in my reading. I tend to like my novels dark and serious. Although sufficiently dark, Breathers is also quite funny, and well written, and compelling and one of the best zombie novels I’ve ever read. There has been so much written about zombies that it’s hard to co...

I enjoyed this book. Quite a bit. It is a fresh take on a old genre...zombies! But it also addressed the realistic implications of the "what ifs" without getting muddled down by the "hows" of the dead returning to life. I think it is a fun little read and definitely entertaining. I especially like t...

Being a zombie isn't easy, just ask Andy Warner. He was killed in a car accident that left him severly damaged and unable to talk. Then he reanimated in the mortuary after he was embalmbed. Now he's confined to the wine cellar of his parents house, drinking their expensive wines and eating the forma...

Poor Andy. He dies in a car crash and wakes up a zombie. In this world this is apparently common place. When you do wake up a zombie, (where everything about you is the same, except for the fact you're kind of decaying) everyone who really loved you right before your death, suddenly hates your gut...

I happened to open this to some offensive, supposed humor about special needs kids. A bit more skimming confirmed general ickiness, so out it went. Too bad, because I know the area it's set in and would have been interested in reading it just for the local color.

I was hoping for some funny slapstick when I picked this up (which I got), but it's so much more than that. Breathers is a satire lampooning prejudice and civil rights, starring everyman Andy, who wakes up to realize he's dead and unwanted by the world. Browne creates a zombie that makes sense to ...

First, I must apologize for the tardiness of this review. I read this book while I was living on the road (out of my RV) during my cross-country move from Massachusetts to California. Because of this, it probably didn't get the full attention it deserved as my mind was so often preoccupied with all...
