Dom returns after two years to re-acquaint herself with friends, lovers, rivals and the world that she left. Lots of action and a certain finality to the plot. I found this more entertaining than Volume 1 but I’m not too enthusiastic about the cartoony artwork.
I wish I hadn't waited so long between reading the first volume and this one - it took me a while to get back into it, and remember who was who and what was going on. The time jump and storytelling that skips around didn't help. That said, Motor Crush remains a delight. The writing, world building, ...
This book has so many things to love. Fast, snappy, writing. Diverse and interesting characters. A unique and captivating sci-fi world. Action and intrigue. Art that evokes a bubblegummy retro anime vibe, with plenty of emotion, excellent panel layout, and fun future-punk flourishes. I'm hooked and ...
This book is basically all filler. I thought I might like that since I do like the characters, and I don't care about the story, but alas this volume didn't do anything for me either. I might return if Maps and Olive ever start dating, but until then I'm going to find the Lumberjanes/Gotham Academy ...
I want to like Gotham Academy, I really do. But I just don't. I really like the characters. I just wish they were in a different book. The comic itself is difficult to read (I had this same complaint about Vol 1). The frames are not well-defined and text box placement doesn't make sense a lot of t...
I'm not even sure what happened. All I know is that she's one of my least favorite rangers - sorry? Or I'm not? - but this had a color your own cover version, so, bam, snagged it. It's actually more fun, and made me care far more for the character; Kimberly, on her own, without her ranger powe...
This comic collection deals with a girl motorcycle racer who also takes part in illegal street races, the prize of which is Crush, an illegal accelerant, which she consumes. There is a lot of drama, a lot of motorcycle racing as you can imagine and plenty of action. The illustrations are anime-ins...
This is the end of volume one, and has been building up to what, and who, Domino Swift really is. See, she can drown in Crush and be fine - in fact, better than fine. Great. Meanwhile, anyone else who drinks crush dies horribly. Crush is, after all, an illegal drug of sorts - but it's only me...
Dom's mysterious benefactor shows her what happens when her kind drinks wild crush, she knows she has to do the same - and impress him enough that he'll tell her what she really is and what she was really made to do. Meanwhile, her digging into her past has angered her father, who's hiding the ...
The ISOLA prologue at the end is neat, especially since I have a signed, limited variant coming soon. (I contacted Image and they're coming soon if you got the Humble Bundle. I thought they were coming out in March, but apparently I was wrong.) But the main attraction for me is Domino, and her a...
