I really appreciate how the authors bring together all the different myths and legends surrounding faeries. This is probably one of the most beautiful books I've visually just ever read. Such a lovely find and worth purchasing as a very cool coffee table book. :)

As always, you are looking at these books more for the art than anything else. However, the story is pretty good in this one. The chosen one, as it were, is a girl. She has intelligence. It is an interesting mystery. It was an enjoyable 96 pages

I think this is one of those “if you love the movie, you’ll love the book” things. In fact, I don’t think I’d recommend reading the book without seeing the movie first. Several times. A.C.H. Smith tries his damnedest (and does pretty well), but some things about Labyrinth just defy description in pr...

Like Lady Cottington's Pressed Fairy Book, a copy of which I owned in the early 1990's and am not sure where it has gone, this is a mix of photos, ephemera, and fabulous illustrations. The psychic imprints (pressings) of fairies are whimsical, ranging from the expected girl with wings and pointy ear...

A fascinating look into the Dark Crystal mythos. Much better than Tokyopop's Dark Crystal manga. Beautifully illustrated, and very interesting. i'll be sure to look for the next volume.

The story of a victorian young lady's adventures with fairies. She collects impressions of the fairies in her diary. Amusing but very slight, really not for children. I like how the handwriting develops over time.

I can’t believe I had gone through so many years, working in libraries, without discovering this gem until this past week. Since gnomes make up a big part of this year’s summer reading theme, I have a gnome display on the bulletin board in the children’s area. One of my coworkers and I started talki...

Basically, it's a kids book for kids with quite vague imaginations. The information was fairly insipid, and most of it was pretty whacky stuff your kid might like after some smarties, but the drawings were what I got the book for. I could look at goblins all day.
