As a news anchor and talk show host, Brian Wilkes became nationally known for his coverage of the space program, medical research, and celebrity interviews. He later became known for his work to teach and preserve the Cherokee language and culture, including the complex and symbolic traditional Calendar. As a business and personal consultant/coach, he has leveraged his media experience to develop an international clientele. His humanitarian work has brought awards from the Commonwealth of Kentucky and international orders of chivalry. He holds a BS in Education, an MA in Ministry, and is currently a PhD candidate in Ministry. In 2015 he received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree from Wolsey Hall Theological School, Oxford, citing his translation and publication work with the Cherokee Bible Project. Wilkes currently makes him home in southern Illinois, where his writing topics include business, Native American spirituality, culture, and language, and well as dog care, and complementary healing including hypnosis.
