Britt-Marie is an acquired taste. It's not that she's judgemental, or fussy, or difficult - she just expects things to be done in a certain way. A cutlery drawer should be arranged in the right order, for example (forks, knives, then spoons). We're not animals, are we? But behind the pedantic,... show more

3.5 Touching read but it takes awhile
This is charming, but not nearly as heartwarming as A Man Called Ove. Still, this novel has its own quiet charm. It's much more of a slow simmer, as the most compelling parts happen in the latter portion of the novel. All in all: not my favorite of his especially compared to the masterpiece of A M...

3.0 Britt-Marie Was Here: A Novel
Similar in style to A Man Called Ove, but I didn't enjoy it as much. It had a very slow start and I did consider giving up on it in the first 100 pages. It definitely picked up in the middle, but the ambiguous ending didn't do much for me.
