Dr. Willis completed his A.B. at the College of William and Mary, including a semester at the Universidad de las Américas in Cholula, Puebla, Mexico. He received his M.A. and Ph.D. in Spanish from the University of Virginia, went on to work at the University of South Alabama, and in 2002 he began at the University of Tulsa, where he has been a tenured professor since 2006. He has traveled in Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Spain, the United Kingdom and the Dominican Republic.Dr. Willis currently teaches and researches a wide range of topics in contemporary Spanish American and Brazilian literatures and cultures. His published materials include the forthcoming Corporeality in Early Twentieth-Century Latin American Literature: Body Articulations (Palgrave 2013); Aesthetics of Equilibrium: The Vanguard Poetics of Vicente Huidobro and Mário de Andrade (Purdue 2006); articles in Brasil/Brazil, Chasqui, Gestos, Hispania, Hispanic Issues On Line, Hispanófila, Luso-Brazilian Review, and South Atlantic Review; and edited chapters, translations, and creative writing.
