As a boy, Bruce spent his days (when other boys were at the playground working on their jump shot) in reading history and historical fiction. Greek and Roman history held a special fascination for him and this led eventually to earning a masters degree in Classical Studies and a doctorate in Ancient History. As an assistant professor of Classics, he taught courses in Late Antiquity and Roman religion--which is a particular interest of his--and published a few impenetrable scholarly monographs, which almost no one read. Since retiring, he has turned to writing fiction. He has published two historical mysteries set in ancient Rome ("Roman Games" and its sequel, "The Bull Slayer".) More recently, he has turned his attention to his other favorite folks, the Vikings. "Odin's Child: Book One of Odd Tangle-Hair's Saga", published by Blank Slate Press, will appear in May, 2015.
