Carol Calvert Ansardi grew up in southern Illinois, a farmer's daughter. I joined the ranks of women entering college in the '70s while I was also raising a family. I began winning writing competitions and writing articles for the Memphis Magazine and the Mid-South Sunday Magazine. Moving to New Orleans, I worked in the medical editing department at the Alton Ochsner Medical Foundation during the '80s, then on to Georgia and back to my own writing, thanks to the wonderful writing groups, the Georgia Romance Writers and the Atlanta Chapter of Sisters in Crime. I'm one of GRW's Maggie winners, and I won or have been a finalist in 14 competitions. I free-lanced articles before trying my hand at ghostwriting and deciding I wanted to write novels. I believe writers write about what they want to read, and I read everything, but especially paranormal, mystery, historicals and yes, I really like Westerns. I've traveled extensively in the Southwest, love Native American culture, and I sponsor wolves at the Wolf Education and Research Center in Idaho. I'm proud to have been a sponsor of James Dutcher's famous Sawtooth Pack. The South and the Southwest will be recurring locations in my future work. Presently, I have a short story in the anthology, The Haunting Tales of Spirit Lake, and Shaman Woman is my first novel. I have a story in a Christmas anthology appearing soon on Amazon, and I'm at work on a mystery set in Louisiana. I live in near Atlanta, Ga with a husband and two papillons.
