C.S. Purdy has ridden a horse in the Rocky Mountains, to the base of the pyramids, and in the city suburb where she grew up, sometimes barely hanging on. Despite her less than stellar riding abilities, a longstanding admiration for the horse and a period of volunteer work led to a passion for learning about the equine role in American history. After leaving the computer field, she began serious research and writing on this topic. Originally from the Chicago area, she circumnavigated the country seeking warmth, and currently lives in southern California.
