Interesting story....Joanne plays the antagonist some in this book rather than the other way around, but I feel Ms. Caine just slightly missed on developing Joanne as the bad guy. I enjoyed it as part of the overall saga....one more to finish this overall story.
Now sort of kind of married, Weather Warden Joanne Baldwin and the love of her life, chief Djinn David, are facing a whole new world of evil. Bad Bob, true to the nickname that had once been a badge of admiration from his fellow Weather Wardens, has activated the demon mark tattooed on Jo's back an...
Read: 09/2010Re-Read: 09/20133.5 StarsA crazy, devastating, emotional story that had me hook, line and sinker. From a series perspective, Cape Storm isn't my favorite book in the series but it kept my attention from start to finish regardless.
The last 70 pages saved this book. I struggled to get through the first half. Jo was in a dark place, and there was a reason for it, but her actions and attitude were so Anti-Jo that I couldn't stand her. Match that with issues with Lewis and a sense that we'd fallen backwards a bit - you get my lea...
Well, it's the end of the world as we know it and Joanne, David and the rest of the Wardens are smack in the middle of it. We leave them on a precipice at the end and next up is book 9, the final chapter of the whole series!
Earlier this year I made a dent in the Weather Warden books by Rachel Caine... and then I needed a break. I love these books overall, but blasting through a series begins to hurt my soul a few books in. I'm happy with this addition to Rache Caine's phenomenal series though. In Cape Storm Joanne's ol...
Wow where do I begin. Sometimes you just fall into a series of books that take you away. In this case I was taken away in an all American heavy metal car that that can kick ass. Joanna Baldwin is a weather warden, with a flick of her hand the weather above can move and change to help the world stay ...
I really wasn't expecting Jo and David to become humans. I should have, I guess, but now I'm really worried about where their powers has gone. That could become a really bad thing. Jo as evil was also really confusing, I didn't think the demon mark could corrupt so quickly.
Cape Storm is book 8 in the Weather Warden series and I would strongly recommend reading the series in order. I think if you tried to read this as a stand alone book you'd probably be missing too much of the back story to get the full enjoyment from the book. I'm really enjoying this urban fantasy...
