I held off reading this one for ages because I was afraid it'd be another like Diplomatic Immunity, but no this was a delight. LOVED seeing Ivan alone ish, LOVED the Jacksonians, loved Tej. I'm also a sucker for marriage of convenience.

Read by Tiffany: Although technically one of a long-running series, this title stands alone nicely and apparently focuses on a bit-player - Ivan Vorpatril. The tone is wry and the pace is cracking, until about the last 50 or so pages when it takes FOREVER to wrap up!

Standing Delivery - Ravings of a Technomancer
Ivan has grown up, and when not crouched in Miles's shadow, his heroism and versatility show through for a fun romp through the Barrayar we've come to know and love. The book really starts when Byerley--no-goodnik cousin to Dono, Richars, Miles, Ivan, and half the High Vor--shows up to recruit Ivan's...

I should have read Cryoburn last, because you-know-who isn't dead. At first I was confused until I looked at the book for reading order. For some reason I thought this was the last book. Finally Ivan finds some happiness and doesn't seem to be dodging other people with high ambitions or Miles with h...

This is the latest of (so far) 15 books in the Vorkosigan Saga, the 14th in chronological order. If you've never read a book in this space opera series, you're in for a treat--and arguably this could stand alone. (Though I think it is more fun if you get references to prior books, and I don't think ...

This is probably my favorite of this year's Hugo Award nominees, and definitely my pick for this year.

Soooo...guess what? This was my first-ever Bujold novel. It's not like I didn't recognize the name; I know who she is. I've come across her in several compendiums and anthologies. What I didn't know was what her novels are like. And then I read this book. Here's a cool thing: This is a great stand-al...
