Cari Ferraro is a calligrapher and book artist whose work explores folklore, writing, the old ways, sacred practice, and line in its many magical forms. Trained in medieval book production practices, she explores new forms and means of reproduction never dreamed of by her scribal forebears. A book is an intimate journey into the artist's vision, and her special interests include the origins of writing, the use of natural materials, and poetry both ancient and new. A degree in Literature and Creative Writing led to the founding in 1981 of Prose and Letters, offering greeting cards, prints and books both instructional and artistic. Her books are in many private and public collections, including the National Museum of Women in the Arts. She lives alongside a creek in downtown San Jose, California. Her work may be seen at www.cariferraro.com and at www.proseandletters.com.
