Cari Hunter lives in the Northwest of England with her wife, two cats, and a pond full of frogs. She works full-time as a paramedic and dreams up stories in her spare time.Cari enjoys long, wind-swept, muddy walks in her beloved Peak District and forces herself to go jogging regularly. In the summer she can usually be found sitting in the garden with her feet up, scribbling in her writing pad. She also loves hiking in the Swiss Alps and mucking about online. Although she doesn't like to boast, she will admit that she makes a very fine Bakewell Tart.Her first novel, Snowbound, received an Alice B. Lavender Certificate for outstanding début. Desolation Point, was shortlisted for a Goldie award and a runner-up in the 2013 Rainbow Awards, and its sequel, Tumbledown, was a runner-up in the 2014 Rainbow Awards. Cari has recently been working on a new crime series based in the Peak District. The case was interesting and engaging. We're given a nice view of the EDSOP team in action along with being able to witness Sanne and Meg's relationship grow. I particularly enjoyed the bits dealing with Sanne's family. A very good continuation of the series.

I think this is my favorite Cari Hunter book. I may say that after each book of hers that I read but it doesn't make the statement less true. I enjoyed the case, the characters, and the relationship. Books like Tumbledown where character go through gut-wrenching trauma (especially emotional— I can take physical, but emotional...) and disaster aren't my forte, and a few times in the beginning I felt like putting the book down on the account of how shocked and upset it made me— but there's no mist...

Still really like this book. The addition of a narrator was nice and getting the accents was a great addition. I recommend this book no matter which version you get.
