She's been writing and training in the field of interpersonal communication for more than 30 years - first, like most parents, experimenting on her kids and then earning a PhD in the subject from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She founded a non-profit corporation known as Interpersonal Communication Services, Inc. through which she has been offering training, coaching, blogging and extensive writing to enable organizations and individuals to enhance their interpersonal interaction. Her career took her to various universities - as she worked her way west. After retirement from the university she and her partner/husband, John Meyer (also a PhD in Communication) began writing for the American Animal Hospital Association to help veterinarians with regard to communication and management. Their work for veterinarians is found in Communication Case Studies, which won the 2012 San Diego Book Award's First Prize in the Business and Science category. (Available on Amazon.com.
