King does a great job with setting up the main characters in this story: Carrieta "Carrie" White, Sue Snell, Carrie's mother, the teacher, principal, Chris, Billy, and Tommy. You can believe how a girl like Carrie could have been pushed as hard as she was in this book and decides to take matters int...

I finished my third read of Carrie on Sunday. I wanted my thoughts on it to be fresh for an in-person book group meeting at the end of this month. (It is prom season after all!) I still love this style of story-telling which includes snippets from newspaper articles, different (fictional) boo...

I have FINALLY read ‘Carrie’, Stephen King’s first book. Yes, it was his FIRST book!Reading a book when you already know the story so well (from the movie) is such a different experience than reading the book and then watching the movie, but it’s even more different when it’s one like this. I’ve see...

This novel showed true brilliance. At 13 years old I could not put this book down. It kept me up late at night. I would actually read with one eye open till I passed out. This book started a life long obsession with books. I definitely recommend it to everyone.

This is definitely not one of my favorite Stephen King books. I still really enjoyed it, but I wish I had read this before I saw any of the adaptations of it. I knew what was going to happen and I feel like that took some of the fun out of it. I absolutely love the character of Carrie. She is so...

3.5/5I saw the original 1976 film adaptation of Carrie years ago, so long ago in fact that I really only remembered bits and pieces of the prom scene. As many times as I've watched a film or tv adaptation of a book and been disappointed I for some reason still thought "well....I saw the movie, the b...

Generally speaking, I really enjoy King's writing. So far, I have read a collection of short stories, Cujo and The cell (which I didn't finish as it was too bloody for my taste back then) So..Carrie.I haven't seen any of the films based on this one and I wasn't familiar with the story before stumb...

I always recommend this book to any one who has never read any Stephen King. Its a good starter novel into King's work. Not too long. The book doesn't weight 20 lbs. Not a lot of freaky supernatural. And well, it's a little gory but just at the end. It's a great read.

It’s odd to read this now. King is a behemoth. People who don’t read books probably know his name and he’s synonymous with Horror fiction. It doesn’t feel like he wanted to be a horror writer in his first novel. There’s blood, cruelty and a general depressive tone. What defines a story is more than ...
