I love this book, Rainbow Rowell is my favorite author, but i give this book 4 star because: The first 200 pages is soooooooo boring, it’s seem like didn’t even started the story, it’s just talk about how Simon fell about Baz is missing, Penelope, Athena, and Mage, and how normal the school are....
Such a pleasant surprise. A book that was essentially (if I got this right) a "fanfic" written by the main character of Fangirl, based on the fictional Simon Snow series from the book, inspired by the actual Harry Potter series. Genius. (eta: might have been just the actual final installment of the ...
This book took a little while to get going for me -- at first it felt as if Rowell was clearly out of her element writing fantasy -- and as someone who reads a lot of fantasy, I couldn't help but notice the shortcomings in worldbuilding, and just how LONG it seemed to take to set everything up; the ...
I'd gone through Fangirl a year before and reading snippets of Cath's fan-fiction on the magical world of Simon Snow was my favorite part of the experience. And now, wish granted! First of all, before I start this review, I just think that it’s important to point out that all those people going all, “BUT IT’S HARRY POTTER!!!” need to calm down. Obviously if Simon Snow was extremely similar to Harry Potter then it would only make sense for this book to seem quite similar to Ha...
Initial reaction: Overall rating: 3.5 stars. More entertaining than I thought it would be, but part of that might be because I took my time listening to the audio book, which was well narrated. Definitely takes cues from Harry Potter, but manages to be its own story. Might have been a little more sl...
So, I read this. I've heard many different things about this book and I was eager to check it out. Besides, I love seeing LGBT characters in YA, especially when they're the main characters #WeNeedDiverseBooks Let's get something out of the way: I haven't read Fangirl but that didn't make things co...
