So I didn't like the Masterpiece series based on this character of Jackson Brodie, but I felt I should give the author a try. I'm glad I did. I like the inversion, the floating thoughts of the characters, the fact that Atkinson doesn't think readers are stupid. Enjoyable.
This book was much sadder than I expected; some of the characters were achingly sad. I liked the way the author tied things together between the cases through the detective and proximity. It's hard for me to say much about this novel. It's a mystery lite, the writing was fine, and it was an interesting enoughway to spend a day. However, there were too many coiincidences and the parts fit together too neatly for me not to scoff a little at the end.
