Such a difficult book to review. Kaylin was a very frustrating heroine and so much of this world is confusing and poorly explained.I enjoyed it quite a bit, but I know I have a weak grasp of what I just read.

Series: Chronicles of Elantra #1 Publisher: Luna Books (2007) Genre(s): Fantasy, Urban Fantasy, Romance Wow. The writing on this was atrocious. I literally did not understand half the book because it made no sense with its convoluted writing and half-explained ideas. I felt like I had to be inside...

3.5 stars. For the most part I enjoyed reading Cast in Shadow. The reason it doesn't quite get 4 stars from me is because at times I felt like not enough was explained and that led to a bit of confusion a few times. I think way too much information is withheld from the reader and the main character....

So, I'm going to wait until I finish this series to review it (as right now I'm making my way through it), but there are a couple things I can say about this series already: wow! the world building in this series is crazy-good. I've read very few (UF?) series set in such imaginative and original wor...

Seven years ago Kaylin was an orphan living in the fief of Nightshade but live was very unsafe because something was killing children and after their death the children were found with marks tattooed on their skin – at the same time these odd marks began to appear on Kaylin’s arms. Eventually Kaylin...

DNF at 10%. This was not good. The beginning was really weak. Strange, disconnected dialogue. The world building was confusing at best. It just couldn't hold my interest, I read ca. 50 pages. And I was so bored and not into it, that I'd rather watch stupid TV shows than go on reading. Figure t...

I ended up reading this whole series in one ...well, weeks-long sitting. I had book two sitting on my to-read shelf at home, and just decided to dive right in. Little did I know it wouldn't let me up for breath.I really enjoyed this. I enjoyed the fact that the books are set one right after the othe...

Kaylin fled Nightshade years ago and found herself a home with the Hawks. She helps police the city of Elantra. However her past has come to haunt her, the past that she tried to run away from. Slow to start and as it assumes the mileu before starting it is slightly confusing but after a while it...

While reading book *fears love triangle* *Starts reading next book* *sees approaching love triangle* *puts book down* *screams* Now I cannot continue this awesome series because the author loves us enough to include a damn love triangle. I am so pissed right now because I had been really hoping this...

I have looked at this book I do not know how many times before I actually caved in and purchased it. My main resistance was the fact that it is published by Luna - a Harlequin publishing company. Didn't want to read a romance. I decided to read it based on the reviews. I am glad I did - it does, in ...
