Catwings is so adorable it almost hurts. The gradual building of trust between the four young cats with wings and sister/brother Hank and Susan is touching. The book provides children with a how-to on befriending cats. Take it slow, respect the cats by providing space for them to get to know you bet...

A cat gives birth to four kittens, but they are different - they have wings! After they have grown some and can fly, they leave the city in search of some place safe for them to live. This is such a cute and sweet book. It's not very long at all, but a very nice story. I really like the four cats wit...

It's written by Le Guin and it's got flying cats, like a hallucinatory Jenny Linsky. A re-read of this very sweet children's book.

Four uncommon kittens and their mother live in an alley (Thelma, Roger, James, Harriett, and Mrs. Jane Tabbey). She loves them dearly and wants them to fly someplace better. Oh snap, I completely remember this book. I guess I had a much earlier introduction to Le Guin than I ever expected. Another point to the 'everything I need to know I learned in kindergarten' crowd. As a kid I loved kitties, and this is a book about kitties...with wings. I was sold, forever and ever....

I literally loved the Catwings books to death when I was growing up, out of the three books I had only one is still alive. They're fun, whimsical adventures for young kids just learning to read. My future children will definitely have a set of these books on their shelves!

It's no secret that I love Ursula K. Le Guin. I decided to read everything by her, so I got these kids books, the Catwings series. This is the first. They have the same solid reality and aching sense of longing that many of her fantasies for adult readers give. These would make a great introduct...
