You don't believe LeGuin can do cutesy? Well, SHE CAN!There is a simplicity to the language that is quite striking, but I would primarily recommend this for small children who long for pets.

James and Harriett return to the city to visit their mother. They are surpised to find their alley empty; turns out the who street is being leveled. They find a younger sister who also has wings. A starling directs them to their mother who now lives with a kind woman.

I literally loved the Catwings books to death when I was growing up, out of the three books I had only one is still alive. They're fun, whimsical adventures for young kids just learning to read. My future children will definitely have a set of these books on their shelves!
