Charles Schneider has spent his life exploring the realms of the fantastical, macabre with a mercurial, and sometimes, comedic twist. His weird horror stories are appreciated by connoisseurs aesthetic outre literature. The Mauve Embellishments, a collection of stories and art,was published by Ex Occidente Press in Bucharest, and is already a very rare book indeed. A very interesting review of it may be read here:http://nullimmortalis.wordpress.com/2011/06/22/the-mauve-embellishments-by-charles-schneider/ Schneider's film and video work is filled with similar darkly playful visions of odd dream-like places. His oil paintings match this decadently playful aesthetic. He was chosen to paint the "death portraits" in the feature film ART SCHOOL CONFIDENTIAL. As a character actor, his face and voice are equally distinct. He has edited books about obscure and forgotten aspects of popular culture, such as Burlesque Paraphernalia, published by Fantagraphics Books. In Aust 2013 Egaeus Press, in England, published the literary tryptich, THE TRANSFIGURATION OF MR. PUNCH. He wrote a novelette, as did two other authors.Information may be found here:http://www.egaeuspress.com/Punch.htmlA short-story homage to the great fantasist, Clark Ashton Smith, entitled RETURN OF THE CRYSTAL, may be found in the following anthology, published in August 2013 by Miskatonic River Press:http://www.amazon.com/Deepest-Darkest-Eden-John-Shirley/dp/1937408027An upcoming story by C.S., AGAIN, THE GRANITE, will appear in TRANSACTIONS OF THE FLESH: A HOMAGE TO JORIS-KARL HUYSMANS Edited by D.P. Watt & Peter Holman, published by Ex Occidente Press, Bucharest.
