After a bit of disappointment with the first book of Cal Leandros, I'm feeling a bit reluctant to pick this up.

Rob Thurman is another new-to-me author I found through my book feed here at BookLikes, so a big ole “Thank you!” to BL readers! Chimera has elements of a medical sci-fi thriller, but is primarily a story about family and family ties between two brothers - Stefan, a reluctant bodyguard/enforcer fo...

4.75 stars, rounded up to 5I am a huge fan of the tv show Supernatural, so when I read the blurb for Chimera, I knew I had to read it. I love books/movies/tv shows/anything with an great relationship between brothers, and this book did not disappoint in that aspect! The story:It was fast-paced, one t...

2.5 - 3 starsI picked this one up because of the book blurb. I am a sucker for family/sibling stories. A brother searching for his kidnapped younger sibling for a decade only to find him turned into a killer and genetically engineered to be the perfect assassin? Yes, I'm sold.Stefan Korsak was 14 wh...

Nice thriller, but the SF angle was all smoke and mirrors. We're told that a mad scientist is performing crazy experiments on human subjects, with amazing results, but there's less explanation of how it actually works than Mary Shelley gave us in Frankenstein.

I don't think I've read another author who does pure sibling love quite as affecting as Rob Thurman. Like the Cal Leandros series, this series features two brothers in an us-against-the-world scenario. Also like that series, the thing that stands out -- beyond the plot, beyond the darkly biting hu...

Enjoyable. Themes of good/evil, nature/nurture and family run through the book, usually without becoming heavy handed. Stefan is more or less a flawed character, a bodyguard for a member of the Russian mafiya, and no stranger to violence. We quickly learn his devoted family side as he meets with S...

When I picked up an urban fantasy novel by this author called Nightlife, I had no idea then how big a fan I would become of her writing. Since then, she’s been an autobuy for me, because of my love for Cal and Nik Leandros, and how Ms. Thurman managed to show the depths and the power of the relatio...

4.5 stars!!!I fell in love with Rob Thurman's Cal and Nico Leandros series, because, for the life of me, I cannot remember ever reading a series about brothers with the intese of love like this one (which of course, make people always connect it to the type of brotherly love from the Winchester brot...

Rob Thurman seems to have a thing for brothers, but I find I don't mind. This book has plenty of her trademark snark, action, and brotherly love, and I couldn't put it down. I'm not so sure this book will lend itself well to sequels, but I'm definitely willing to be proven wrong.
