I haven't really read this -- but gave up (for now) after about 50 pages -- the book is interesting (not great), anecdotal, a grainy look at everyday life in different parts of modern china -- good for those with lots of time on their hands... Not weighty enough (for me) to spend time on...

Instantly engaging and I enjoyed the read very much. My initial feel that it would turn out to be served with strawberries and cream has been dispelled, some gritty issues have been laid out bare upon the table and addressed sensibly.
