Chjan C. Lim earned his Bachelors of Science in Engineering from Princeton University, where he graduated with High Honors in 1982. He received his PhD in Applied Mathematics from Brown University in 1987, and has taught at RPI since 1989, after postdoctoral stints at University of Michigan Ann Arbor and University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. His main interests are in Thermodynamics and Statistical Physics of non-Extensive systems, with particular focus on the applications of Kac's Spherical Model to phase transitions in quasi-2D macroscopic flows, where the long range logarithmic interactions between vortical quasi particles do not exclude second order phase transitions in the 2D lattice Spherical models. He is interested in systems where the total angular momentum Is not conserved, as small eddies coalesce into domain size coherent vortex at high kinetic energies. He has also worked on Large non-extensive Systems that has negative specific heats in the micro canonical ensemble. More recently, he has published research on Network science, applied probability and graph theory, including exact solutions of the Two Urn models and applications to Social opinion dynamics such as the Voter models and Naming game models.
