Christian Schoon began his writing career as an in-house writer/programming manager with the Walt Disney Company in Burbank, CA, followed by a stint as a freelance writer working for various film, animation and video studios in Los Angeles. After moving back to the Midwest, he bought a farm, started volunteering with a group that rescues abused/neglected horses and another group helping to re-hab wildlife and care for felines with special medical needs. His animal welfare work, combined with his life-long sci-fi geekery, inspired Christian to write his first book, the young adult science fiction novel Zenn Scarlett. The book follows the adventures of a 17-year-old novice exoveterinarian specializing in the treatment of large, dangerous off-world animals. The sequel, Under Nameless Stars, debuts in April, 2014 from Strange Chemistry Books; North American distribution by Random House.

Half the time my mind was wa...

I've come to have high hopes for books published by Angry Robot. Unfortunately, Under Nameless Stars came nowhere near what I've come to expect from this publisher. I failed to notice when selecting this title that it was a sequel, an unfortunate slip on my part, but not something that should rui...

It's not a secret that I was looking forward to reading Zenn Scarlett. Colonization of other planets (especially Mars) is one of my favorite topics in science fiction novels. Add to that the fact that Christian Schoon kept teasing us in his comments and tweets by throwing out names of unusual animal...
