Chris McCurry, Ph.D. is a husband, father, and clinical child psychologist. He was born in Kearny, New Jersey, in 1953 and raised in Southern California where his father worked at Disneyland. This affected his development in ways that are still not fully understood. He maintains a busy private practice in Seattle, Washington, where he lives with his wife Sue, a geriatric psychologist at the University of Washington, and son Ian, who is a recent college graduate (B.S. in Psychology. Go figure).Chris' first book, "Parenting Your Anxious Child With Mindfulness and Acceptance", was published in March of 2009 through New Harbinger Publications. July of 2015 saw the publication of a book for clinicians, "Working with Parents of Anxious Children: Therapeutic strategies for encouraging communication, coping, and change" from W.W. Norton. Most recently, he has coauthored, with Dr. Emma Waddington, four small books, illustrated by the great Louis Thomas. These books are meant to be read by parents and young children together and help parents answer questions regarding healthy habits ("Why do I have to eat my greens?"), divorce ("Why don't we all live together anymore?"), manners ("Why do I have to say please and thank you?"), and diversity ("Why are people different colours?"). These were published in 2016 by Francis Lincoln, London. His website is ChrisMcCurry.com.
