Clare Ashton's first novel, Pennance, was long-listed for the Polari Prize and After Mrs Hamilton is a Golden Crown Literary Society award winner.Clare grew up in Mid-Wales and she has a brain stuck somewhere not particularly useful between the arts and science. And that's how she ended up studying History and Philosophy of Science at Cambridge. She has worked as a scientific copy-editor (where she learnt to spell diarrhoea), a waitress at the Little Chef (where she learnt you could survive on toast alone) and as a software engineer (where she learnt to spend far too much time on a computer). She has been accused of sometimes living too much inside her head, but it turns out that this is good for writing stories. Her novels are a mix of suspense, intrigue, romance and darker elements too. She lives in the midlands (UK) with her partner and son and daughter who are a lovely distraction from writing. She also edits the UK lesbian fiction blog with Cari Hunter: http://uklesfic.wordpress.comFind out more about Clare at http://rclareashton.wordpress.com

We’re kind of bamboozled by this book. It is completely out of any boundaries and expectations set for lesroms. It is twisting, twisted and throbs with secrets clawing to get out. It is intense and entirely immersive. Read the full review @ https://www.bestlesficreviews.com/2019/11/after-mrs-hamilto...

Poppy and her family and friends were lovely and each featured character felt unique and real. Rosalyn was tougher to connect with - be...
Description: I really enjoyed this book! Clare Ashton has created characters that felt real enough and I felt very much involved and invested in their story, read almost entirely in one sitting. The story has a familiar theme of a true love character being reunited with someone she spurned a decade ...
Achingly beautiful. I was nailed, riveted in reading. I felt as I need to embrace the characters to protect them from all that suffering. Expecially Clo. Not only her, but expecially her, so sweet, so frail and yet so disperately wanting to live again. Laura and Susan. I saw what was coming. I hoped...
An atmospheric psychological thriller cum drama/romance. This is one of the most effective uses of first person POV in lesfic I've read. The author takes us into the mind of the lead character Lucy and experience first hand her feelings of alienation, dread and guilt as she attempts to recover from ...
